In ‘The Alchemist’, Mr. Paulo talked about ‘personal calling’. What is ‘personal calling’ and why we need to aware to our ‘personal calling’?

Mr. Paulo said ‘personal calling’ is God’s blessing.[i] It is a path that God chose for us here on Earth. Sadly, sometimes, some of us afraid to confront our dreams. Additionally, perhaps, I think, we are too busy with other personal matters till we forget our dreams.

Why?

The first reason, probably, some of us are being taught from childhood that everything we want to do is impossible.[ii] So, our dreams buried in our soul.

The second obstacles: love.[iii] We thought that we will hurt people around us in pursuing our dreams. We forget that love actually makes us to go on (for example mother’s love in bringing up a child), not something that prevent us to achieve our dreams.

Thirdly, fear of the defeats that we will meet on the path.[iv] We are afraid (again) to fail, to take risk, to make mistakes. We, are the ‘Warriors of Light’[v] must be prepared to have patient and to know that the Universe is there to help us to go through the path.

The last obstacles: the fear of realizing the dreams for which we fought all our lives.[vi] We see people around us failed to achieve what they want, and we too, feel that we do not deserve to get what we want either.

So, what it got to do with me? Let me share with you my true experience.

It was Oct2007, at Borders... I am searching for a some kind of motivational and spiritual books. I am lost in finding what I want in life or perhaps to be more accurate, my dreams. I prayed that God to give me the ‘sign’.

Here goes one gentleman, came over and handover 'The Alchemist' to me. He said, 'You need this one' and walked away. Without thinking, I took this book and paid.

I kept it for a couple of months. I am busy with work and have no time to think about my dreams. Without realizing, I am becoming another person. I am unhappy with my life. I knew that I am going really far from myself, my belief and mostly, people who loves me. But I am helpless and tired.

Somewhere in Jan08, I opened 'The Alchemist'. I found it boring and again I kept it away from my sight.Not for long, in Feb08, I decided to read it and I realized that this is the ‘sign’. All I need is courage. I searched for my ‘personal legend’ that once I abandoned, I feel the 'love' Mr. Paulo talking about, I am the ‘Warrior of Light’, and lastly, I am not going to make the same mistakes like some others I knew. I thank God for all the blessing, the sign and the love He showered me.

Oh no, now you think that I am dramatic person, don’t ya??? I am and I am not. I am another ordinary person who looks life at different angle now. There is so much life to offer (I am trying my best to learning in a better understanding) and I pray that I will make full use of it.

Go on... get this one into your shelf. You won't regret it, the least you’ll feel peace while and after reading it.
